Deaf People Can’t Get Jobs: Americans with Disabilities Act

The ADA (AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT) has been seen to have some negative effects for the Deaf people in these troubled times when it comes to them finding a job that pays them well enough to live on. Though the ADA has some very positive benefits in other situations, and the job market, many Deaf people find it causes problems for them.

While we don’t need more people becoming dependent upon the government–becoming part of the nanny state–our government needs to understand the plight of Deaf people and see if there are more constructive things they can do that will give equal footing to Deaf people when competing for jobs with the hearing people. While the following article ask questions, it does not provide answers. Perhaps as you read this article you may have some positive suggestions that can be used to help those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to find quality jobs.

Examiner Editorial: Gang of Eight immigration reform fails accountability test | WashingtonExaminer.com

It is time we and force the laws we already have on the books. It is not time to try to wiggle around or scorn the laws we have, especially regarding immigration. The Boston incident proves that! We need to become more vigilant at upholding the laws regarding immigration, or we are just opening up our nation to easier attacks from within. Obama ignores laws he doesn’t like, unless the courts, the media or the citizens hold his feet to the fire.

One of the reason our nation has been as successful as it has been is because it is a nation founded on the laws, based on solid principles, and held to by the government and the people. Without firm adherence to the law we become as a ship tossed to and fro on waves of the ocean, having no intentional direction.

The “Gang of Eight” is simply that, a gang, unless they hold to the pre-existing laws of the nation.  Circumventing those laws will do nothing except destroy our nation. . Any new laws need to be based on the previous laws, supporting them and  strengthening them. . They can do this and still be compassionate and just to those who have legally entered this nation and to those who have illegally answered this nation, as well as the children who have been brought here by their parents.

We need a group of legislators who will function according to the Constitution and our system of laws and not a “Gang of Eight “who function in an Al Capone style

Monsanto’s Dirty Dozen | GMO Awareness – Better Read This

Do you think your food is safe? Better read this. Do you microwave in Styrofoam? Better STOP! Do you think the milk you give your baby is safe? You need to check. Those  are a FEW of the things you will read about here. Fresh Fruits and vegetables safe? Think again, and again, and again.

Aspartame (NutraSweet / Equal) (DEATH AND SEZIURES)

Bovine Growth Hormone, rBGH, milk has been linked to breast cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer in humans.

“Terminator Seeds” would force farmers…

More than 85% of the processed food you consume every day has Monsanto’s GMOs inside, and residues of their RoundUp pesticide outside. But it’s not just processed food—fresh fruit and vegetables are next: genetically engineered sweet corn is already being sold at your local grocer, with apples and a host of other “natural” produce currently in field trials.

U.N. passes sweeping international arms regulation viewed by some as Second Amendment override – Washington Times

With the Obama administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.

Critics of the treaty were heartened by the U.S. Senate’s resistance to ratifying the document, assuming President Obama sent it to the chamber for ratification. In its budget debate late last month, the Senate approved a nonbinding amendment opposing the treaty offered by Sen. James M. Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican, with eight Democrats joining all 45 Republicans backing the amendment.

“The Senate has already gone on record in stating that an Arms Trade Treaty has no hope, especially if it does not specifically protect the individual right to bear arms and American sovereignty,” Sen. Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican who backed Mr. Inhofe’s motion, said in a statement. “It would be pointless for the president to sign such a treaty and expect the Senate to go along. We won’t ratify it.”

Despite the Senate vote, numerous groups have pressured President Obama to support the treaty, and Amnesty International hailed Tuesday’s vote.

Starbucks Stock Tumbles over Public Outcry

Stock is gradually decreasing as over 90% of Christian patronage agreeing to boycott, similar to the Chick-Fil-A incident but to the opposite point of view and trend.

Summary from other articles:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz dug in his heels about gay marriage after an investor complained that the company’s support was eroding its bottom line.

“If you feel respectfully that you can get a higher return [than] the 38% you got last year, it’s a free country,” said Schultz, during the annual shareholders meeting on March 21. “You could sell your shares at Starbucks and buy shares in other companies.”

Many major companies have publicly taken a stance on gay marriage. Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-Fil-A, announced his opposition to gay marriage last year. Business surged as customers lined up at the fast food chain to show their support, while gay couples staged a “kiss day” in protest.

—- From another article in
Charisma News by Daniel Norris: What the Church Can Learn From Starbucks’ Bold Stance on Gay Marriage

Leaders justify the silence, saying, “This is an issue we have chosen not to focus on.” They remind their members that the church is supposed to be a house full of compassion and that the best way to win is with love.

This is only half true. The church is at its best when it is full of compassion and full of conviction. That is the example Jesus set. He was unconditional in His love, and He was unwavering in his conviction. It was His love that drew the multitudes, and it was His convictions that drove them away. His radical commitment to both changed the world.

There is a cost to doing what is right—especially when the prevailing winds of public opinion are blowing against you. Starbucks has polling data on its side. The church is now finding many of its convictions on the opposite side of that fight. Are we willing to put our money where our mouth is and stand up for what we know is right?

Shultz added if you don’t like their position, then “sell your shares.” He made it clear that Starbucks will not compromise its convictions to keep you in their company. It is time spiritual leaders do the same!

From the Washington Times article by Tim Devaney: Offended by the decision of Starbucks chief Howard Schultz to support gay marriage, a Christian organization is seconding the CEO’s demand that Christian shareholders sell their stock in the ubiquitous coffee chain.   “Christians and pro-family groups across the United States have contributed significantly to the economic success of Starbucks,” said American Family Association President Tim Wildmon in a statement. “However, we can certainly honor Mr. Shultz’s request to take our business elsewhere.”
